Warner Bros. said in a statement released on Tuesday night, "Jordan Elsass has advised the Studio that he will not be returning to Superman & Lois for season three due to personal issues." The line "The role of Jonathan Kent will be recast" was added.
According to Deadline's sources, Elsa's, who played the son of Clark Kent (Tyler Hoechlin) and Lois Lane (Elizabeth Tulloch), has been struggling with personal concerns, which may be related to his mental health. Elsass apparently discussed going to therapy and taking a break from social media in a June Instagram post that has since been deleted.
The CW's Superman & Lois, one of the few remaining Arrowverse shows, has just been dealt a serious blow. It has been revealed by SYFY WIRE that star Jordan Elsass will not be returning for Season 3 as Jonathan Kent, the son of Superman, when filming for the next season begins soon in Vancouver.
"Superman & Lois star Jordan Elsass has informed the production company that he will not be returning for Season 3 due to scheduling conflicts. Recasting Jonathan Kent, who is being replaced "As of Wednesday, Warner Bros. Television has released an official statement. The studio had to continue filming without Elsass because, according to sources close to the situation, he was unable to make it to Canada in time for the production deadline. They stress that this was an individual matter, not something that occurred at work.
Clark Kent (Tyler Hoechlin) and Lois Lane (Elizabeth Tulloch) raise their two sons, Jonathan and Jordan, in the Man of Steel's hometown of Smallville. The series was created for television by Greg Berlanti and showrunner Todd Helbing (Alexander Garfin). Emmanuelle Chriqui (Lana Lang Cushing), Adam Rayner (Morgan Edge), Wolé Parks (The Stranger), Dylan Walsh (General Samuel Lane), and Morgan Cushing (Kyle Cushing) also star.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly back in June, Helbing revealed that he had planned all along to give Jonathan a bigger part in the upcoming third season.
We want to incorporate Jonathan into the superhero narrative more, he said. "It's tough in these shows since normal humans can only accomplish so much when confronted by superpowered foes like Ally Allston (Rya Kihlstedt). So far, Jonathan has been a mystery. Season 3 hasn't even been discussed seriously yet. What Clark tells him about Kryptonian technology, however, can be interpreted in a number of various ways; hence, our final course of action remains to be seen. Having four brothers myself, and everyone on our team having had comparable life experiences, the brother dynamic is a lot of fun to play. Of course, sibling relationships can go either way, but what we appreciate most about Jordan and Jonathan is that they always have each other's backs and aren't envious of one another. In the show, you can count on that dynamic to persist."
It has been confirmed that Jordan Elsasser, a regular on thE CW's DC sitcom Superman & Lois, will not be returning for the show's forthcoming third season. Because of this, the part of Jonathan Kent will be recast. Elsass, a native of Texas, was let go after she missed the deadline for the ensemble to reunite in Vancouver, where Superman & Lois is shot. After much consideration, Jordan Elsass has informed the Studio that he will not be returning as Superman & Lois's co-star for Season 3. Warner Bros. Television announced Tuesday night that they would be searching for a new actor to play Jonathan Kent.
